John Tanous Ltd is an old-established firm dating back to 1913, with origins in fine art framing.
From humble beginnings as a café workshop based in Fulham, the business grew to become one of the most pre-eminent gesso composition frame makers in London, servicing all the major art museums and galleries, royalty and renowned artists of the day such as Augustus John.
In 1994, with the business needing new direction, Carl Wenstrom took on the company and moved furniture manufacture to the forefront. In 2009 the operation moved to premises near Brighton in Sussex, where Carl and his core team of trusted craftsmen have reaped the rewards of a beneficial working environment on a farm industrial estate close to the South Downs and the sea.
We work with top interior designers and architectural practices which, through their world-wide reach, have led to John Tanous furniture being specified internationally across a broad canvas of areas and functions. These range from public spaces in luxury hotels and palaces to bedrooms and private dining rooms in traditional clubs and private homes.
